Getting started with voice leveling for gaming videos and microphones

Choose audio or video, set processing strength, compare with the original, and save as WAV or video: a guide to the actual workflow.

LevelUp Audio supports Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Before processing a full-length recording, try a short section containing both quiet speech and the loudest moments to check your settings. Keep a separate copy of the original file.

1. Choose your file and audio type

On the home page, use Choose file to open your recording. Features have been tested with WAV, MP3, M4A, FLAC, and OGG audio, and MP4, MOV, and WebM video. Files with the same extension may use different codecs, so some may not work. Video without audio cannot be processed.

For a separate microphone recording, choose Microphone voice; for a file with game sound and voice already mixed together, choose Game + voice. If the file contains multiple audio tracks, select one to process. Only mono and stereo are supported.

2. Check strength and device capacity

The default strength is 60%. Raise it a little if the difference between quiet speech and loud sounds is still too large, or lower it if breaths and background noise become excessive. At 0%, the original audio is converted to WAV without leveling. Higher strength does not always produce a better result.

Read the recommended device range below the settings. Video processing needs storage for intermediate audio and the new video, in addition to the input file. Extended mode does not bypass the safety limit or storage checks. If your file exceeds the recommended range, split it into shorter sections first.

3. Compare at the same playback position

Start automatic processing and keep the tab open. When processing finishes, switch between Original and Processed to listen to the same section. Match average playback volume for comparison turns down only the louder version for comparison. This playback setting does not affect downloaded files.

Check quiet word endings, loud laughter or screams, and background sound between phrases. After changing settings, select Process again with these settings to apply them. Downloads still contain the previous result until you process again.

4. Save audio or video

Download processed audio saves a 24-bit WAV file. For video input, select Create processed video and then Download processed video. Supported video pictures are not re-encoded, while audio is re-encoded as AAC or Opus. The result includes only one selected video track and one audio track. Subtitles, additional tracks, and some metadata are not retained.

If processing stalls or fails

Cancel processing and start again, or use a shorter file. If only the picture preview is unsupported, audio comparison and supported video exports may still work. For repeated errors, check the original file extension, browser, and error screen; you do not need to publish your media. Reset my work cleans up temporary jobs.
